Rain Hits
Mahoning - Final Events Set for Oct. 3 & 31
With practice underway and
the pits still filling with race cars, rain suddenly moved across the area
and put a halt to the rest of the evening at Lehighton’s Mahoning Valley
Speedway. It marked the eighth such time this season that rain either
postponed or cancelled entirely the racing card at the paved ¼-mile oval.
That leaves just two dates to complete the remaining events. October 3 and
31.
This coming Saturday,
October 3, starting at 5:00 p.m. the action will consist of all track
classes. On the docket will be the make-up Dirt Modified feature from July
25 and a regular 20 lap feature for the class which will be double points.
The Late Models will race in a 40-lap, double point main. The Street Stocks
and Pro4 Late Models will compete in regular 25 and 20 lap shows
respectively. Both will be double points. Lastly the Modifieds will face-off
in the conclusion of Hand Three of the Modified 100 Poker Series which will
pick back up with 63 laps remaining. They will conclude with Hand Four of
the Poker Series which carries double points and will have time trials,
heats and a 100 lap feature. Each Poker Series feature pays $3000 to win.
For the Late Models, Dirt Mods and Pro4’s, October 3 will be the season
finale.
The last races of the year
take place on Saturday afternoon, October 31 starting at 2:00 p.m. Scheduled
to hit the track will be Hand Five of the Poker Series along with a special
100 lap, $1000 to win contest for the Street Stocks. Both those classes will
run time trials. The postponed Street Stock race from July 25 will be held
first. This will be the final point race with the class.
