Mahoning
Valley Speedway Rained Out Again
For the second time in as
many weeks wet weather forced the cancellation of racing at Lehighton’s
Mahoning Valley Speedway. Despite that there are still five remaining dates
on the 2009 schedule.
This coming Saturday night,
September 5 starting at 6:00 p.m. the 5th Annual Street Stock 100 will
headline the evening. Todd Ahner, Lonnie Behler, Bill Hunara and Jon Moser
are past winners of what has become a Labor Day weekend classic at Mahoning
Valley. Also in action will be the Modifieds, Dirt Modifieds, Late Models,
Pro4 Late Models and Sportsman Micro Stocks.
There will be no racing on
September 12.
Racing gets back on track
on September 19 with all regular tracks classes plus the July 11 make-up
Modified feature and the final appearance of the XCEL 600cc Modifieds.

Models will run a special 40 lap event. All regular tracks classes will be
on hand as well as the 4c Super Modifieds.
October 3 will consist of Hands Three and Four of the Modified 100 Poker
Series. Hand three still has 63 laps to be run after the original show was
halted back on July 25. Hand Four was initially set for August 22 but that
show was also washed out.
Each Poker Series race pays
$3000 to win plus an additional jackpot awaits the top three drivers who
gather the best hand of cards dealt after each of the specialty races.
The Late Models, Dirt
Modifieds and Pro4 Late Models will contest in their final double point
races of the season that same night. The Sportsman Micro Stocks are also be
on the card.
The final day of racing is
set for Saturday afternoon, October 31 featuring the, “The Trick-or-Treat
200.”
On tap will be Hand Five
for the Modified 100 Poker Series. It is also a double-point event for the
class which will determine this year’s track champion.
The Street Stocks will also
battle in a 100 lap tilt, however, before that takes place their make-up
feature from July 25, which was going to be held this past Saturday, will
kick-off the program that begins at 2:00 p.m. That division’s titlist will
also be crowned.
There are all types of
special Halloween treats being planned for the youngsters.
