Ryan, Jentile, and Harris
Take Halloween Screamer
Enduro drivers took to the speedway Sunday
for the Mountain Madness Enduro Series’ “Halloween Screamer”
Sunday at Sundance Vacations Speedway. The final event of the
season showcased enduro talents through out the tri-state area.
With double-points on the line, Joe Jentile of Bedminster, PA
reined following post race tech to the 6/8-cylinder victory and
Sam Ryan of White Haven barely held off his competition to earn
the 4-cylinder verdict. Greg Harris of Long Island scored his
first career Trophy Truck victory.
Rich Paciotti led the 6/8-cylinder field to the drop of the
green flag in the 150-lap Halloween themed event and was quickly
overtaken by Dominic Ranieri.
With Ranieri being score as the leader, Ed Brown, Jr. worked
into the second spot, followed by Joe Jentile, Kevin Nowak and
Keith Frankenfield.
Jentile disposed of Brown and overtook the race leader on lap
34. At that point in the race, a hard charging Elliott Wohl sat
in the third spot and Shawn Gallucci cracked the top five.
Jentile looked untouchable in the early going, but Wohl began to
reel in the leader. With only 13 laps remaining, Wohl overtook
Jentile and began to drive away from him.
Wohl crossed the stripe for what appeared to be his first enduro
victory. However, the winner failed post race inspection and
Jentile was awarded the victory over Brown, Frankenfield and
Mike Parisi.
Untouchable this season, Jentile was victorious in six of seven
events. His worst finish was second, which helped him earn his
second straight title in the division.
After starting on the pole, Brandon Brown led the opening lap of
the 150-lap four-cylinder event. Sam Ryan took command before
the second lap clicked off with Mark Foreman, Charles Barbeisch,
Jr. Brown and Denise Siegel in tow.
Foreman hounded the leader and kept him in sight as green flag
racing continued and with only 24 laps complete, Tony Rispin had
worked into third.
Foreman overtook Ryan for the lead near lap 30, but Ryan
regained the spot several circuits later. Meanwhile, Siegel
began to make her presence known and moved by third by lap 55.
Bill Price, Jr. cracked the top five and ran in the fourth
position.
Siegel’s day came to an end when her engine expired on lap 88.
Meanwhile, Dave Bentley, Jr. began his run toward the
front-runners.
Glued to the leaders back bumper over the closing laps, Foreman
attempted several ‘bump and run’ maneuvers on Ryan, but the
leader held his position.
Ryan cruised on to take the checkered flag over Foreman,
Bentley, Price and Rispin.
With six top fives and seven top tens this season, John
Saccomandi of North Whales, PA took his first career division
title.
Kevin Nowak led the largest Trophy Truck field of the season to
the drop of the green flag in the 30-lap event. Greg Harris held
second, followed by Bryan Kelly, Hank Hallock and Shawn Wanat.
Harris hung with Nowak in the early going and then a lapped
truck came into play. Nowak had to slow and Harris grabbed the
lead on lap 10. Kelly snuck by to take the second spot.
Problems struck both Kelly and Wanat, and they were forced to
pit before the conclusion of the event.
Meanwhile, Harris began to put some distance on hi competition
and took his first career Trophy Truck victory over Nowak,
Hallock, Frank Katona and Jeff Gregor.
