Sundance Reschedules Sunday Show for This Friday
Despite several attempts to dry the race track throughout the afternoon,
Sundance Vacations Speedway officials were forced to postpone the card of
racing for the afternoon. With an effort to reschedule the events and due to
several tracks running make up races and big shows this Saturday, officials
made the call and rescheduled events for the Modifieds, Late Models, INEX
Legends and Factory Stocks to Friday, October 2. It marks the first time
since the 2005 season that racing will take place on a Friday evening at the
speedway.
Rain showers crossed the speedway after warm ups on Sunday and within an
hour the track was dry and ready for racing. Bob Wink and Paul Morgan, Jr.
took Factory Stock heat race wins before the rains came again. Track drying
continued and just when the surface was ready for racing, another ban of
showers came through.
Several drivers were in attendance, gearing up for the 10th annual “King of
the Mountain”, which is slated for the weekend of October 10th and 11th.
John Fortin, the 2009 Riverhead Raceway Modified champion was in the pit
area with his daughter, Amber, who also piloted a Modified during warm ups.
Anthony Sesely, a regular on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was on track
with the regulars, as was last year’s champion, Rusty Smith.
The pits will be open at 4 PM on Friday, October 2 and practice will start
at 5:30 PM. The grandstands will open at 6 PM with heat races starting at 7
PM. Grandstand admission is only $10 and free for children 10 years of age
and younger.
Sundance Vacations Speedway is just minutes from Hazleton, Pa, located on
